Del Mar’s Seymour in Semifinals

Top-seeded Bob Seymour of Del Mar moved into the semifinals of the men’s 65s singles in the San Diego Super Seniors tennis tournament Wednesday with an impressive, 6-0, 6-0 victory over Larry Tarbell of Brea at the San Diego Tennis & Racquet Club.
Seymour will face third-seeded Clare Hoke of Claremont, who defeated Tom Brotherton of Fallbrook, 6-3, 6-4. Second-seeded Stan Potts of San Diego defeated Don Fiebing, 6-3, 6-3. Potts will play Art Graybill of Rolling Hills, who defeated Al Olson of San Diego, 6-1, 6-2.
FOOTBALL
Defensive end Lee Williams and defensive back Gill Byrd of the Chargers were named to The Sporting News All-Pro team. San Francisco quarterback Joe Montana was picked as the Player of the Year.
BASEBALL
Third baseman Romy Cucjen, a 1980 graduate of Bonita Vista, was traded Wednesday from the St. Louis Cardinals to the Indianapolis Indians, an American Assn. (triple-A) affiliate of the Montreal Expos, for pitcher Isaac Alleyne. Cucjen, 27, batted .276 with the Louisville Redbirds last year. He was acquired by the St. Louis organization from San Francisco.
