SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO : Landowner Opposes Office Plaza Project
- Share via
Plans for a 12,000-square-foot office-and-retail plaza on Ortega Highway will be challenged by a neighboring property owner at the City Council meeting Tuesday.
The Capistrano Collection project, approved in October by the Planning Commission, is being developed by Coastside Financial in conjunction with property owner Martha Gresham.
Francis Romer is appealing that approval, claiming that access to the proposed center will cut off potential vehicle access to the vacant lots he owns south and east of the project site.
The plaza site is east of the San Diego Freeway at Ortega Highway and Rancho Viejo Road. It is adjacent to the Forster family mansion, built in 1912, which Gresham bought and restored in 1982 to house her interior design business. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
