FAIRMONT, W.Va. — A magistrate today dismissed charges that Miss West Virginia, Lisa Bittinger, illegally waved a gun at a woman who kicked in her car window and pulled the beauty queen’s hair during a scuffle.
“I don’t think it’s unreasonable for a person to reach for a weapon when she’s being threatened,” Magistrate C. Frank Jones said in dismissing the charge of brandishing a weapon, which carries up to six months in jail and a fine of $200.
Tammy Boyce, 23, of Fairmont, had filed the complaint against Bittinger, 21, after the Nov. 7 scuffle on a downtown street. Bittinger said the fight began when Boyce ran her car off the road.
