Fluor Ups Dividend: Responding to improved earnings, the Fluor Corp. board of directors on Tuesday declared a 50% increase in its quarterly shareholder cash dividend to 6 cents a share from 4 cents a share.
As a result, the Irvine-based engineering and construction company on Jan. 16 will distribute $4.8 million to owners of company common stock as of Dec. 26, 1989.
In February, 1987, when Fluor had suffered large losses because of a plunge in orders for petroleum-related projects, it suspended dividends. As Fluor reorganized and its business picked up, it reinstated the dividend at 2 cents a share in September of 1988, raising it to 4 cents a share last March.
