HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Taft Plays Well Enough to Win, 54-44

Taft High committed 27 turnovers and played “horribly,” according to Coach Jim Woodard, yet managed to forge a second-half rally to defeat Venice, 54-44, in a nonleague game Tuesday at Taft.
The Toreadors trailed, 21-17, in the first half, but outscored Venice, 37-23, in the second half. Jason Deyoe led the way with 12 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
