Servite Struggles Early and Falls to St. Paul, 28-6

St. Paul High School quarterback Albert Borunda passed for 345 yards to lead St. Paul to a 28-6 victory over Servite in an Angelus League game Saturday at Gahr High School in Cerritos.
Borunda completed 20 of 27 passes. St. Paul’s Steve Corpus caught passes for 130 yards, and two first-half touchdowns. St. Paul led 21-0 at the half.
St. Paul and Servite have identical records at 3-5 overall and 1-1 in league play.
Servite quarterback Scott Jones completed 20 of 35 passes for 282 yards and one touchdown. He replaced starter Rob Walker in the second quarter after Walker threw his third interception.
Servite’s Kent Weiss was limited to 59 yards rushing. Servite’s Mike Kroll had five catches for 64 yards.
Servite Coach Larry Toner said his team did not execute well, and that St. Paul attacked the Friars at their weakest positions.
Servite’s next game is Friday against Bishop Amat, which leads the Angelus League with a 2-0 record.
