Syria Reported Buying 22 Soviet Fighter Jets

KUWAIT — Syria is buying 22 sophisticated Soviet jet fighter-bombers to upgrade its air force, the Kuwaiti newspaper Al Rai al Am reported Thursday.
The daily, quoting an unidentified senior Soviet source, said the Arab state will soon receive 22 Sukhoi 24 jet fighters.
