An Anaheim market clerk was fatally beaten in a confrontation with a man he chased after what was believed to have been a robbery or theft attempt, police said Monday.
Yeon Kon Chang, 49, died at UCI Medical Center shortly after being found about 8:20 p.m. Sunday with a severe head wound in the parking lot of the J. R. Market, 2612 W. Lincoln Ave. in Anaheim.
Chang, who had been working alone, apparently ran after a teen-age suspect, who may have tried to hold up the store or shoplift.
