Hit-Run Driver Kills Topanga Canyon Man

A26-year-old man died Wednesday after being struck on a Reseda street by a hit-and-run driver, Los Angeles Police reported.

Peter R. Metz, of Topanga Canyon, died at Northridge Hospital Medical Center about 12:15 a.m., a half-hour after he was run down in a southbound lane of Lindley Avenue just west of Erwin Street, Officer Richard Neuenschwander said.

Investigators believe that Metz was struck as he stood by his parked car, which may have had mechanical problems. Neuenschwander said there were no witnesses, and the driver who struck Metz “just kept on going.”
