By one vote, an Illinois House Rules Committee blocked further action on abortion restrictions designed to mirror a Missouri abortion law the U.S. Supreme Court upheld in July. The vote increased the likelihood Illinois lawmakers will not vote on abortion legislation until next year. But anti-abortion forces planned to seek another vote by the committee later this legislative session, which is scheduled to end Nov. 2.
