SAN DIEGO COUNTY : New Season at Lamb’s Theatre Has Light Touch

The Lamb’s Players Theatre, heady from its success with the currently running “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” has, in turn, announced a new season that seems to be shooting for lightweight crowd-pleasers with small cast requirements. “The Nerd,” Larry Shue’s Broadway comedy about a nerd who wreaks comic havoc wherever he goes will play Feb. 9-March 18; “An Ideal Husband,” a witty comedy about marriage in high British society by Oscar Wilde, runs April 6-May 13; “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” C. S. Lewis’ popular fantasy about children who find a magical world of witches and talking beasts by walking through a wardrobe into a land called Narnia June 1-July 8; “The Chalk Garden,” the one drama on the schedule, by Enid Bagnold, tells the story of the humanist son of a Baptist minister who is trying to explain faith and hope to his young daughter, Aug. 17-Sept. 16; and a new musical to be announced Oct. 10-Nov. 11.

Also, there are rumors that if “Joseph” sells out, it may return to Lamb’s for three weeks in January.
