“I wanted to share one of my best recipes, one which I always receive compliments from friends,” Cathy Margulies of Los Angeles writes. “I began experimenting with a basic chocolate-chip cookie recipe from a friend and modified it to my liking.”
BEST CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES YOU’LL EVER TASTE
2 cup oats
1 cup margarine
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon soda
1 (4-ounce) Hershey chocolate bar, frozen, then grated
1 (12-ounce) bag semisweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
In food processor or blender process oats until of flour consistency. Set aside.
Cream together margarine, granulated and brown sugars. Add eggs and vanilla to mixture and set aside.
Mix together flour, oat flour, salt, baking powder and soda. Gradually add flour mixture to margarine mixture. Mix well. Mix in grated chocolate bar. Add chocolate chips and walnuts to mixture. Mixture will be hard to stir.
Drop by tablespoons onto foil-lined, ungreased baking sheet. Flatten each cookie slightly. Bake at 375 degrees 7 to 10 minutes, or until desired degree of doneness. Makes 5 dozen cookies.
