PREP ROUNDUP : El Toro Breezes Past Mission Viejo in South Coast League Tennis, 15-3

Sweeps from two singles players and two doubles teams paced host El Toro High School to a 15-3 girls’ tennis victory over Mission Viejo in a South Coast League match Tuesday.
Corie Anderson won, 6-3, 6-1, 6-0, and Denise Kenyon won, 6-3, 7-6, 6-1. The doubles teams of Michelle Micone and Jenny Sher won, 6-3, 7-6, 6-1, and Michelle Pillsbury and Carrie Anderson won, 6-3, 7-6, 6-4.
El Toro is 6-5 overall, 2-1 in league play. Mission Viejo is 1-2 in the league.
In Angelus League girls’ tennis:
Rosary 18, St. Paul 0--The No. 1 doubles team of Terri La Madrid and Kristie Le Bouf won, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, to lead host Rosary (10-2, 2-1).
In Empire League girls’ tennis:
Esperanza 14, Cypress 4--Michelle Butler and Holly Hyde won, 6-3, 6-3, 6-1, in doubles for Esperanza (5-5, 1-4).
Katella 10, El Dorado 8--Lynn Vonusa won, 6-2, 6-4, 6-0, for host Katella (11-2, 4-1).
In Freeway League girls’ tennis:
Sunny Hills 9, Fullerton 9--Sunny Hills won at home on games, 82-80. Inga Pak and Sheri Pak, swept, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 1 doubles for Sunny Hills.
In Garden Grove League girls’ tennis:
La Quinta 17, Garden Grove 1--Ann Pham won, 6-3, 6-0, 6-0, and Nichole McLean won, 6-3, 6-2, 6-0, in singles for visiting La Quinta (7-3, 7-0).
In Orange League girls’ tennis:
Savanna 9, Brea-Olinda 9--Host Savanna won on games, 77-75. Cindy Kuragami swept, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, in singles for Savanna.
Valencia 17, Magnolia 1--Magnolia forfeited its No. 2 singles sets and Valencia’s Julie Williams swept her two other sets, 6-0, 6-0, for the Tigers (9-2, 5-0).
Western 18, Anaheim 0--Tami Galeai swept, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, for Western (10-1, 4-1) at Anaheim.
In Pacific Coast League girls’ tennis:
Costa Mesa 14, Orange 4--Jessica Lurmann swept, 6-3, 6-3, 6-0, for host Costa Mesa (6-8, 1-3).
In Sea View League girls’ tennis:
Estancia 16, Tustin 2--Liz Collins and Molly Romm won their doubles sets, 6-2, 6-0, 6-0, at Estancia (8-4, 2-1).
University 12, Saddleback 6--Jeannette Fylpaa won, 6-1, 6-1, 6-0, and Sandra Brishka won, 6-4, 6-3, 6-1, to lead the Trojans (7-3, 2-1).
In South Coast League girls’ tennis:
Capistrano Valley 17, Irvine 1--Lisa Sculga won, 6-1, 6-0, 6-1, in singles for the host Cougars (10-0, 3-0).
In Sunset League girls’ tennis:
Edison 14, Marina 4--Nikki Turner and Laura Oleson won, 6-2, 6-0, 6-1, in doubles for host Edison (11-2, 4-0).
Fountain Valley 17, Westminster 1--Michelle Berkowitz won, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, in singles for host Fountain Valley (6-4, 3-1).
In Academy League girls’ volleyball:
Liberty Christian 3, Heritage 0--Laura Cordero had six kills and four blocks to lead visiting Liberty Christian to a 15-5, 15-1, 15-3 sweep.
In Angelus League girls’ volleyball:
Rosary 3, St. Paul 0--Wendy Herb had 12 kills and 10 blocks and Diane Wiskus had nine kills and six blocks as Rosary won, 15-1, 15-7, 15-8, at Troy High.
In Century League girls’ volleyball:
Canyon 3, Foothill 0--Kori Dalbey had 52 assists as visiting Canyon (7-2, 3-0) won, 13-15, 16-14, 15-5, 15-4.
El Modena 3, Santa Ana Valley--Tera Coleman had 35 assists and four aces and Heather McKinley had 14 kills as host El Modena (9-0, 3-0) won, 11-15, 15-10, 15-5, 15-11.
In Empire League girls’ volleyball:
Esperanza 3, Cypress 0--Sharman Grant had seven kills and Jenice Webb had six as the host Aztecs (7-1, 3-0) won, 15-6, 16-14, 15-0.
El Dorado 3, Katella 0--Vicky Burk had six kills and Jennifer Pettey had five as visiting El Dorado (7-7, 1-2) won, 15-11, 15-10, 15-9.
In Freeway League girls’ volleyball:
Sunny Hills 3, Fullerton 1--Kim Hale had 19 kills for host Sunny Hills in an 11-15, 15-9, 15-4, 15-8 victory.
In Olympic League girls’ volleyball:
Santa Margarita 3, Capistrano Valley Christian 2--Host Santa Margarita (9-2, 7-0) won, 13-15, 13-15, 15-10, 15-1, 15-8. Megan Morse had 12 kills, five blocks and seven aces for Santa Margarita.
In Orange League girls’ volleyball:
Anaheim 3, Western 0--Robyn Tenpas had eight aces to lead visiting Anaheim to a 15-4, 15-2, 17-15 sweep.
In Sea View League girls’ volleyball:
University 3, Saddleback 1--Traci Webb had nine kills for host University in a 12-15, 15-13, 15-6, 15-2 victory.
In South Coast League girls’ volleyball:
El Toro 3, Mission Viejo 0--Marta Bickert had 14 kills and Michelle Mauney had 12 as the host Chargers (8-2, 3-0) won, 15-5, 15-3, 15-13. Kerry Knopf had five aces for El Toro.
In Sunset League girls’ volleyball:
Edison 3, Marina 0--Margot Neville had eight kills and 11 digs for host Edison in a 15-9, 15-11, 15-3 sweep. Edison is 5-4, 2-1. Marina is 2-1 in league play.
Fountain Valley 3, Westminster 0--Shelby Snyder had seven aces as host Fountain Valley (7-2, 3-0) won, 15-3, 15-1, 15-5.
In Del Rey League water polo:
Mater Dei 10, Servite 3--Charlie Wallace had six goals to lead visiting Mater Dei (13-5, 4-1). Mater Dei outshot Servite, 29-14.
In Orange League water polo:
Valencia 11, Western 7--After playing to a 5-5 halftime tie, visiting Valencia outscored Western, 4-1, in the third quarter for a 9-6 lead. Mickey Doi had four goals, Todd Denning three and Jeff Myers two for Valencia (9-5, 3-0).
In nonleague water polo:
Capistrano Valley 17, Edison 2--Kevin Eggert had seven goals to lead the Cougars (15-0) at Saddleback College. Dan Hancock, who is the Cougars’ assist leader this season, had five assists and six steals.
