Majority of New Businesses Succeed: A nationwide study of new businesses, released by American Express Small Business Services and the National Federation of Independent Business, showed 77% have remained in business since the survey began three years ago. The study was conducted among 2,994 new businesses that were less than 17 months old when the survey was launched in May, 1985, American Express said. More than 90% of the successful entrepreneurs said they would go into business for themselves again, and 64% said their personal satisfaction equaled or exceeded their expectations.
