Toy Maker Recalls Baby’s Rattle That Could Choke Child

WASHINGTON — The manufacturer of a baby’s rattle announced Thursday that it was voluntarily recalling the toy because it could present a choking hazard to small children.
The rattles may be broken in use and expose small parts that could be eaten or swallowed by small children and cause them to choke, a statement from the Consumer Product Safety Commission said.
Some 60,000 of the rattles that have a center section in the shape of a bear’s face, butterfly, ball or train engine were sold nationwide through J. C. Penney stores.
The toy maker, Lousiana-based Mini-Togs Inc., said the rattles were distributed with two baby bibs, but the recall involves only “Baby Bib” model 200.
