Former Sacramento County Supervisor William Bryan has been indicted on federal charges of lying to the court about his finances to get a public defender. Bryan, 52, who now lives in Minnesota, surrendered to FBI agents in Minneapolis, said U.S. Atty. David Levi. Bryan was indicted by a federal grand jury in Sacramento on charges of obstruction of justice and filing a false statement with the U.S. District Court. The indictment alleges that Bryan provided a false financial affidavit to the court in August, 1988, in an effort to obtain a public defender. He had previously been charged with bribery in connection with the awarding of the Sacramento cable franchise. Trial on that indictment is scheduled for April, 1990.
