Fireman’s Fund Takes a Hit From Hugo: The insurer, based in Novato, Calif., said the financial impact of claims caused by last month’s Hurricane Hugo will amount to about $35 million to $40 million pretax in the company’s third quarter. The cost reflects anticipated reimbursements from reinsurers that agreed to take on a share of possible claims.
