Reward Offered in Shooting of Mailman

U.S. Postal Service officials are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the gunman who shot and wounded a mail carrier in Los Angeles last week.
Jaime Manzano, a six-year Postal Service employee, was making his daily rounds in the 700 block of 103rd Street, shortly after noon last Friday when a gunman demanded mail containing cash and checks, said postal official Donald Obritsch.
A struggle ensued. As Manzano fled and tried to get back into his postal truck, he was shot in the face. He remains hospitalized in stable condition.
The gunman, who fled in a waiting car, did not make off with any mail.
At a news conference Thursday, postal officials made a plea for help and gave a description of the car: a gold four-door 1971 Chrysler Plymouth New Yorker with a torn vinyl top.
