Dayton Hudson Corp. said that Bruce G. Allbright, president, will retire next year.
The Minneapolis-based retailer also announced the election of Stephen E. Watson as executive vice president. He has been chairman and chief executive of the company’s Dayton Hudson Department Store Co. unit since 1985 and will continue to hold those positions.
Allbright, who has been president since 1987, will retire from that position and as a director Feb. 1, the end of the company’s fiscal year.
Allbright, 60, was elected president of the corporation in September, 1987, after having been chairman and chief executive of its Target discount store division since 1984. He joined Dayton Hudson in 1971 as president and chief executive of its B. Dalton Bookseller unit.
