Placentia : Girl, 2 1/2, Drowns in Apartment Complex Spa

Authorities said Tuesday that a 2 1/2-year-old girl accidentally drowned in an apartment spa in Placentia over the weekend despite attempts by a family friend, paramedics and hospital emergency personnel to revive the child.
The toddler, Krystal Pittman of Apple Valley, was visiting an aunt at the Somerset Park Apartments. A resident found her Sunday at the bottom of a spa at the complex, Placentia police and fire spokesmen said Tuesday. A family friend removed the child from the spa, but she was unconscious and not breathing, Fire Department Capt. Jack Wallace said. The girl was taken to Placentia-Linda Community Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 6:35 p.m., Wallace said.
Placentia Police Sgt. Steve Toth said the incident has been ruled an accident.
