High School Roundup : Louisville Rolls to Sweep Over Newbury Park

The Louisville High girls’ volleyball team gained a measure of revenge Thursday by whipping Newbury Park, 15-8, 15-9, 15-2, in a nonleague opener at Louisville.
The Royals avenged their second-round loss to the Panthers in last season’s Southern Section 4-A Division playoffs.
Returning starters Torie Sumner and Mary Beth Giordano recorded 15 and seven kills, respectively. Mary Hudson added seven kills.
Louisville (1-0), defending champion of the San Fernando Valley League, will play Thousand Oaks, defending champion of the Marmonte League, in a nonleague match Thursday at Louisville.
In other matches:
Burroughs d. Notre Dame, 15-11, 13-15, 15-12, 5-15, 15-7--Jennifer Wagner had 20 kills and seven blocks and Loretta Russell had 10 kills and eight aces to lead Burroughs in a nonleague opener at Notre Dame.
Maria Thorpe and Kim Fischer each had 10 kills for Notre Dame.
Hart d. Crescenta Valley, 6-15, 15-6, 13-15, 15-13, 15-9--Michelle Kinsfather led Hart with four kills in a nonleague opener at Crescenta Valley. Dana Delmatoff added three kills.
WATER POLO
Crespi 20, Lakewood 2--T. J. Greene scored seven goals and Vince Greco scored five to lead Crespi in a first-round match of the Bell Gardens tournament at Montebello High.
Goalkeeper Tim Behrens recorded eight saves for Crespi (1-0).
Rich Cortz scored both goals for Lakewood (0-1).
