Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will help Senegal and Mauritania mediate an ethnic and territorial dispute that led the two West African neighbors to sever diplomatic relations and fueled fears of a war. Mubarak will visit both Senegal and Mauritania in September in his capacity as the current head of the Organization of African Unity to try to resolve the five-month-old dispute. A border clash over grazing rights last April sparked ethnic riots in the two nations that killed hundreds and prompted an exodus of thousands of refugees.
