Musicians to Visit Sister City Again
Twenty years after they first performed in South El Monte during a sister city visit, musicians from Gomez Palacio, Mexico, plan to return for a reunion performance on Tuesday.
The musicians, students when they visited South El Monte in 1969, are now working professionals--doctors, lawyers and engineers--according to the South El Monte Sister City Assn.
Members of the group are scattered throughout Mexico and reunited in Gomez Palacio last year to perform for a visiting South El Monte delegation. That event prompted the group to organize a reunion visit to South El Monte Monday through Aug. 25.
The Mexican musicians are scheduled to present a free concert Tuesday at the South El Monte Community Center, 1530 Central Ave., beginning at 8 p.m.
