The north and south lanes of California 163 between Friars Road and Interstate 8 will be closed late today for bridge construction, officials of the California Department of Transportation said.
The south lanes will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until 3 a.m. Saturday. The north lanes will be closed from 10:30 tonight until 3 a.m. Saturday.
During those hours, the 6th Avenue and Robinson Street on-ramps to north California 163 will also be closed. Access to Mercy Hospital through 6th Avenue will remain open.
Traffic traveling north on the highway will be detoured to I-8 east, to Mission Center Road, then back west to California 163 north.
Traffic going south on California 163 will be detoured on I-8 west to Taylor Street, then back east on I-8 to California 163 south.
