TOURISM/LEISURE TIME : John Wayne’s Passenger Traffic Rises in July; Aircraft Operations Decline

Airline passenger traffic in Orange County showed a slight increase of 1.9% last month over the same month a year ago.
The passenger traffic count last month was 396,409, compared to 388,836 for July, 1988, according to figures just released by John Wayne Airport.
At the same time, takeoffs and landings, or total aircraft operations, dropped last month to 46,478, a 7.4% decline from the 50,189 recorded in July, 1988.
General aviation activity--or activity by private, non-commercial aircraft--accounted for 84% of the total aircraft operations in July. That marks a 9.6% decrease from the comparable period 12 months ago.
