Award Won: Donald Hoffman, an associate professor of cognitive science and computer science at UC Irvine, was named recipient of the American Psychological Assn.’s Distinguished Scientific Award for contributions to psychology in the sensation and perception area. The award was presented at a recent association convention in New Orleans. Hoffman is co-author of “Observer Mechanics,” which attempts to explain how the mind processes information obtained by the senses.
