In response to “Non-Union Teacher Fees Approved by School Board,” Metro, Aug. 8:
Los Angeles Board of Education member Mark Slavkin is right, but he doesn’t go far enough. Since the school board made a mockery of collective bargaining by granting all the administrators the same raise that teachers fought for, they should be included in the fee proposal.
Let the administrators pay the teachers’ union a fee for getting them a raise, while at the same time criticizing the teachers for being greedy. Next time let them bargain on their own. Enough of their freeloading--and that includes the superintendent.
