* Progenx, a start-up San Diego biotechnology company that is trying to develop therapeutic drugs, announced it has raised $6.4 million in a secondary round of venture capital financing, bringing to $9.6 million the amount of venture funds it has raised since its founding in September, 1987.
Investors included Venrock Associates, Merrill Lynch Venture Capital, and Burr, Egan & Deleage. Merrill Lynch’s Robert Curry has been added to the Progenx board of directors.
