A 14-year-old boy was in good condition Tuesday at Mercy Hospital after being shot in the left shoulder, police said.
Rufus Reynolds was riding in a car with two other juveniles when he was hit by a single gunshot about 7 p.m., San Diego Police Sgt. Tim Smith said.
As the three were driving slowly along the 5200 block of Las Animas Way in Southeast San Diego, another youth approached the car on foot and exchanged words with them, Smith said.
The youth on foot “pulled out a gun and fired into the car,” striking Reynolds, Smith said. The police gang detail is investigating.
