Chemicals Spill After Crash; None Injured
- Share via
Aminor traffic accident Friday morning at Nordhoff Street and Haskell Avenue in Sepulveda resulted in a potentially hazardous spill of swimming pool chemicals that took about two hours to clean up, Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. John Biggs said.
Biggs said the 8 a.m. collision caused containers to burst and leak about three gallons of muriatic acid and about six gallons of chlorine. A 14-person hazardous materials squad poured soda ash over the spill to neutralize the mixture.
Biggs said residents of nearby townhomes were advised to stay inside and all traffic was halted while the spill was cleaned up. No one was injured.
