Summer fire restrictions will begin today in both the Sierra and Sequoia national forests, federal officials said. Stage I restrictions will take effect in sections of the forests below 6,000 feet, including such popular recreation areas as Pine Flat Reservoir, Bass Lake, Shaver Lake and Mammoth Pool.
