An Orange County gay rights group is planning a series of demonstrations, starting Tuesday night, to protest the Board of Supervisors’ rejection of an ordinance that would have prohibited discrimination against people with AIDS or the AIDS virus.
The Orange County Visibility League is planning a “die-in” at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the County Hall of Administration to call attention to the people who are dying of acquired immune deficiency syndrome and how they will be affected by the board’s 3-2 vote.
“This event is going to be a way to show the Board of Supervisors our displeasure with their vote and a way of enlightening their constituents,” said Jeff LeTourneau, the league’s co-chairman.
Other demonstrations will follow, he said, adding, “I’m certainly hoping they will change their mind” about the ordinance.
