Glen Sather, who has coached the Edmonton Oilers since March 1977, relinquished those duties Monday to concentrate on his responsibilities as the National Hockey League team’s general manager and president.
John Muckler, who was Sather’s co-coach last season, becomes coach, and assistant Ted Green co-coach.
“I just felt this is the right time to do it,” said Sather, who won four Stanley Cups with the Oilers. “It’s time for me to get on with another section of what has to be done for the Edmonton Oilers.”
