Gino Tagliaferri, the state’s home run leader who led Kennedy High to the City Section title, has been selected the City 4-A Player of the Year by a panel of area sportswriters.
The senior shortstop is one of 12 Valley players selected to the 20-member team that is sponsored by the Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles. He is joined by Kennedy teammates Mitch Cizek, a pitcher, infielder Mike Murray and outfielder Garret Anderson.
Chatsworth placed three players on the team: pitcher Derek Wallace and infielders Rich Aude and Jason Evans.
Other selections included Grant pitcher Javier Delahoya, Monroe infielder Tim Costic, Cleveland outfielder Pat Bryant, Taft outfielder Glenn Nahmias and Sylmar pitcher/infielder Nino Romo.
