A. H. Robins Co.: The Richmond, Va.-based pharmaceutical maker, in its fourth year of Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization, reported a 13% increase in earnings to $16.3 million for the first quarter. Revenue totaled $226.9 million, up 4.2% from a year ago. The 1989 earnings include a writeoff of $18.3 million invested in Robins’ subsidiaries in Colombia and Venezuela. The 1988 earnings included a $30.2-million charge for anticipated expenses related to the company’s Chapter 11 reorganization.
