Sinatra 101? In a new twist for traditional education, the University of Arizona in Tucson this summer will offer the first class in the music of Frank Sinatra, to be taught by Sinatra fan Jerry E. Kirkbride, a clarinetist and associate professor of music. “Frank Sinatra is a unique vocalist with an equally unique career spanning more than 50 years,” Kirkbride said. “His discography is enormous and offers unequalled interpretations of show tunes and standards.” The course will be titled “American Pop Music: Sinatra Era.”
