Elephant Boots Out: Acme Boot Co., the world’s largest boot manufacturer, announced that it will stop making boots made with elephant skin because of protests by animal lovers. Lu Honig, director of purchasing for Clarksville, Tenn.-based Acme, said the company has stopped buying elephant skins, even though those it has purchased have been from animals legally killed in Africa.
