A 26-year-old man struck in the back by a gunshot Sunday night was the unintended victim of a gang-related drive-by shooting, Los Angeles police said.
Lt. Stuart Maislin said the man, who was not identified, was with friends near the intersection of Valerio Street and Vineland Avenue about 7:30 p.m. when he was hit once by a shot fired from a car. Maislin said the man was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Burbank and was expected to survive.
“He happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time,” Maislin said.
