Prep Roundup : Valencia Golfers Win 38th Consecutive Meet

The Valencia High School golf team won its 38th consecutive dual meet, beating Canyon, 406-418, in an 18-hole match Wednesday at Alta Vista Country Club in Placentia.
The Tigers’ streak extends over three seasons.
Junior Chris Tidland of Valencia (1-0) was the medalist with a two-over-par 74.
In other nonleague golf matches:
Brea-Olinda 212, University 215 (nine holes)--Jeff Blass shot a four-over par 40 to lead Brea-Olinda (2-0) at the Rancho San Joaquin golf course. Byung Park was the medalist with a 39 for University (0-1).
El Modena 191, Garden Grove 204 (nine holes)--Medalist Dutch Jones shot a one-over 36 to lead El Modena (2-0) at Willowick golf course in Santa Ana.
Trabuco Hills 210, Los Amigos 261 (nine holes)--John Fischer shot a 39 to lead Trabuco Hills at Mile Square golf course.
In nonleague tennis:
Saddleback 13, Villa Park 5--The Roadrunners swept the doubles sets for the victory at Saddleback. The No. 1 team of Chinsop Eye and Duc Tran won, 6-2, 6-3, 6-1, for Saddleback (1-0). Villa Park (0-1) was led by Naresh Parson, who won his singles sets, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0.
El Toro 14, Canyon 4--Freshman Chris Brown swept his singles sets to lead the Chargers (2-0) at El Toro. The Chargers also dominated doubles play. The No. 1 team of Brian Delbenes and Suri Appa swept, as did the No. 3 team of Daniel Cabral and Dan Mitchell. Canyon is 0-1.
Laguna Hills 12, Tustin 6--The doubles team of Mike Pinnow and Jeff Cook swept, 6-1, 6-1, 6-3, to lead the Hawks (1-0) at Laguna Hills.
In nonleague volleyball:
El Toro 3, Palisades 2--Doug O’Brien had 28 kills as the Chargers (1-0) won, 15-10, 11-15, 15-10, 12-15, 15-7, at El Toro.
