LOCAL : Seal Beach Man Dies in Fire at Home

A Seal Beach man was killed this morning when a fire raced through his home near the central business district, officials said.
William R. Deitrick II, 55, was killed in the blaze in the 200 block of 2nd Street, Orange County Fire Department spokeswoman Kathleen Cha said.
The fire broke out at 4:17 a.m., she said, and two occupants of the house escaped. A woman was burned on the foot while fleeing the fire and was taken to Los Alamitos Medical Center. The other resident escaped unharmed.
The two occupants who escaped tried to return to the house to rescue Deitrick but the heat from the fire prevented them from returning, Cha said. Cha said the house did not have a smoke detector.
