Dempsey, Dodgers Agree on Contract

The Dodgers agreed to terms on a 1-year contract with veteran catcher Rick Dempsey Saturday.

Dempsey, 39, batted .251 last season with 7 home runs and 30 runs batted in while playing 77 games last season.

Dempsey earned $250,000 in 1988 and submitted an arbitration figure of $495,000. The Dodgers countered by offering $365,000. No financial terms of the deal were announced.
