Emulex Corp., a Costa Mesa computer products maker, reported sharply higher earnings and revenue for the second quarter ended Jan. 1.
Earnings for the second quarter of fiscal 1989 rose to $3.8 million, up 58% from the $2.4 million posted in the same period last year. Revenue jumped to $37.7 million, up 24% from the $30.4 million in fiscal 1988.
First half results also improved over 1988. Emulex reported earnings of $7.3 million for the first 6 months of fiscal 1988, up 87% over the $3.9 million posted in the first half of fiscal 1988. Revenue rose to $73.8 million, a 25% jump from the $59.1 million posted in the same period last year.
Fred B. Cox, Emulex president and chief executive, attributed the improved picture to the overall strength and positioning of the company’s product lines.
And he said in a prepared statement that Emulex “will be making a continuing stream of new product announcements . . . which we believe will position us well for strong entry into fiscal 1990.”
