THE PREPS : Roundup : Down, 2-0, Orange Gets 3-2 Victory

Orange High School rallied from a 2-goal deficit to defeat Laguna Beach, 3-2, Wednesday in a Pacific Coast League boys’ soccer match at Laguna Beach.
Jason Crabbe scored two first-half goals to give Laguna Beach a 2-0 lead. Orange (3-4-2, 1-1) closed the gap to 2-1 just before the half on a goal by Kevin Esparza.
Esparza scored again early in the second half to tie the score. Gustavo Bonnell scored the winning goal with 10 minutes left.
In Garden Grove League boys’ soccer:
Bolsa Grande 4, La Quinta 3--Juan Duarte scored twice to lead host Bolsa Grande (3-3-1, 1-0). Hoang Vu and Bobby Henry also scored for the Matadors.
Kennedy 3, Santiago 1--Mark Florek scored 2 goals to lead host Kennedy (2-1-2, 1-0). Quan Weis also scored for the Fighting Irish.
In nonleague boys’ soccer:
Canyon 5, Corona 3--Canyon got goals from five players at Corona. Andy Bierozi, Steve Kerr and Jesse Flores scored in the first half to give Canyon (5-1-1) a 3-1 lead. Randy Campbell and Hoyt Vanderpool scored in the second half.
Corona del Mar 0, Foothill 0--Goalie Chris Connelly made 10 saves for host Corona del Mar (4-2-2).
Cypress 7, Bellflower 1--Shan Chasauros and Chad Benson each scored 2 goals to lead host Cypress (5-3-1).
Katella 4, Western 0--Sophomore Armando Orizaba scored 3 goals to lead host Katella (6-2-2). Phil Bravo made 6 saves in shutting out Western. Jack Hipp also scored for the Knights.
Loara 1, Magnolia 0--Andy Medlin scored with 10 minutes left in the first half for Loara (4-2-2) at Magnolia. Goalie Eric Smith had 10 saves for Saxons.
Ocean View 2, Brea-Olinda 0--Steinar Jorgensen scored both goals for Ocean View (4-1-2) at Brea.
Servite 1, Long Beach Wilson 1--Wilson (4-2-3) scored on an own goal after the ball deflected off a Servite defender’s head 2 minutes into the second half, giving Wilson a 1-0 lead. Erwin Garcia of Servite (1-5-1) tied the score 4 minutes later. Servite goalkeeper Dominick Sarno saved a penalty kick with 13 minutes remaining to preserve the tie.
Villa Park 2, El Dorado 1--Mike Noble scored 2 goals, both in the second half, to lead Villa Park (8-1-1). Aaron Behle scored to pull El Dorado to within 2-1. Goalie John Brewart made 10 saves to preserve the victory.
Westminster 5, Rancho Alamitos 1--Larry Rippe scored 3 goals to lead Westminster (1-3) at Rancho Alamitos. Jason Bradley and Curtis Holmes also scored for the Lions.
In the Brea-Olinda girls’ basketball tournament:
Brea-Olinda 64, Fontana 61--Aimee McDaniel scored 26 points to lead the Wildcats (6-0). Jody Anton scored 16 for Brea.
Costa Mesa 55, Bassett 40--Maureen Moore scored 14 points to lead a balanced Costa Mesa attack in a consolation game. Kim Good scored 13 points and Trang Nguyen 12 for the Mustangs (3-3), who play Tustin today.
Tustin 66, Arlington 35--Teresa Perkins scored 15 points and Kathy Snyder 14 to lead Tustin (4-2) in a consolation game. Snyder also had 14 rebounds and Perkins 6 steals.
In the Savanna tournament:
Savanna 49, Villa Park 32--Jackie Boxley had 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists to lead Savanna (5-2) in a championship quarterfinal game. The Rebels will play Mission Viejo in the semifinals Friday.
Valencia 51, El Toro 45--Nancy Amoroso scored 15 points to lead the the Tigers in a championship quarterfinal game at Savanna High School. Krista Gilpin and Kristen McDonald each scored 12 points for the Tigers (5-1).
In a nonleague game:
Capistrano Valley 63, Marina 40--Holly Anderson scored 29 points and pulled down 13 rebounds, and Shelley Zierhut added 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead host Capistrano Valley (6-1) over Marina (5-1). Marina’s Melisa Sortino had 24 points.
In nonleague girls’ soccer:
Newport Harbor 2, Trabuco Hills 2--Heather Webb scored 2 goals for host Newport Harbor (3-1-1), and Shantina Gandall scored 2 for Trabuco Hills.
In a nonleague wrestling match:
Canyon 43, Esperanza 16--Canyon, ranked No. 1 in the Orange County coaches’ poll, got 3 pins in defeating No. 2 Esperanza at Canyon. Steve Sotelo pinned Greg Carrescia in 2:29 in the 98-pound division. Scott Gayer pinned Nick Soto in 5:39 in the 154-pound division. Zach Cooper pinned Tim Leonard in 3:14 in the 191-pound division.
