Soviets to Import Cereals From France

PARIS — The Soviet Union and France have signed a $280 million grain deal under which Moscow will import 2 million tons of French cereals, the French trade house Interagra said on Monday.
Interagra Chairman Michel Doumeng said in a statement that the cereals will be delivered in the first quarter of 1989 at prices similar to the $139 per ton paid for a delivery agreed to in September.
The deal was concluded in Moscow after a weekend visit there by French President Francois Mitterrand, who was accompanied by several French businessmen.
A Soviet Foreign Economic Relations Ministry spokesman who made that announcement gave no details of the pact.
