Dana Hills and Corona del Mar high schools will be looking to win team championships, and Brian Dameworth of Agoura and Scott Hempel of Walnut will try to defend their titles today at the State cross-country championships at Fresno’s Woodward Park. Last year, Dana Hills finished second to Arroyo in Division I and Corona del Mar was runner-up to Walnut in Division II. Dana Hills edged Camarillo to win the Southern Section 4-A title last week, and Corona del Mar finished third.
Dameworth, a junior, was the Division I individual winner and Hempel finished first in Division II.
Palos Verdes is overwhelming favorite to repeat as the girls’ Division I team champion and Kira Jorgensen of Rancho Buena Vista in Vista, last year’s Division II champion, will try to win the Division I title this year.
