Santa Paula 24, Calabasas 12--Calabasas tailback Mike Webb rushed for 256 yards in 27 carries but committed 3 of his team’s 5 turnovers as the Coyotes lost at home. Webb opened the game with a 73-yard touchdown run. Bob Rajewski followed with a 10-yard scoring run on Calabasas’ next possession to give the Coyotes (1-8, 0-4) a 12-0 lead.
Santa Paula’s Danny McCarthy returned the second-half kickoff 88 yards to give the Cardinals (7-2, 3-1) the lead. McCarthy, who scored the first Santa Paula touchdown on a 57-yard pass from quarterback Rick Carpenter, scored his third touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter on a 4-yard reception from Carpenter.
