Local News in Brief : Not Guilty Plea in ‘Underwear Bandit’ Case

Out-of-work bus driver Bruce Allen Lyons pleaded not guilty Thursday to being the “Underwear Bandit” who robbed 21 businesses and forced women employees to give him their panties.
Lyons, 33, of Moreno Valley, entered the plea in Long Beach Municipal Court to 23 counts of robbery, four counts of sexual battery, two counts of lewd conduct and one count of assault with intent to commit rape.
Lyons, who was arrested Oct. 23 after a robbery at a Baskin-Robbins ice cream store in Rowland Heights, faces similar charges in Orange County.
Lyons is being held in lieu of $1-million bail.
