Moroccan Airline Orders 10 Planes From Boeing

CASABLANCA, Morocco — The national carrier Royal Air Maroc announced plans to buy 10 new Boeing Co. jets for $450 million in an ambitious modernization drive.
In October, Seattle-based Boeing announced that orders for the year thus far had reached a record of about $25 billion.
Air Maroc said in a statement that the company had also taken an option on an additional 10B 737-400s and B 737-500s.
The new planes will enter service in 1990, replacing 727-200 and 737-200 models.
The aim is to equip the airline--93% owned by the state--with a fleet able to meet an expected increase in tourism traffic.
Air Maroc, which has two jumbo 747s in a total fleet of 22 aircraft, has annual revenue of about $350 million (3 billion dirhams) and employs 4,800 in 30 countries.
