Fisher Scientific Group, a La Jolla-based medical equipment and supply concern, reported third-quarter net income of $10.2 million on sales of $239.4 million, up from a profit of $9 million on sales of $229.3 million over the same three months a year ago.

For the nine months ended Sept. 30, Fisher’s profit is $28.5 million on sales of $711.8 million, up from a profit of $19.8 million and sales of $672.8 million over the same period a year ago.

For the year to end Dec. 31, Fisher said it expects profit to be $37 million to $39 million on sales of more than $950 million. In 1987, Fisher had net income of $30.9 million on sales of $908.3 million.
