American Cyanamid Co. said third-quarter net income dipped 3% from last year to $64.1 million. Revenue rose to a record $1.094 billion, up 5%. The Wayne, N.J., research-based biotechnology and chemical company said the results were due in part to lower operating profit from its Chemicals Group because of higher costs for raw materials, strong competitive pricing in the specialty products businesses and delays in defense-related aerospace programs.
